Easter Lilies

Easter Lilies

Today is such a wonderful day for the rest of our lives!!!!!!!

A most Blessed Easter to each and every one of you!

Have you ever wondered how lilies were associated with Easter?  Lilies are often used in the Bible as symbols of beauty:

Jesus said, “Consider how the lilies grow.  They do    not labor or spin.  Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these” (Luke 12: 27).

Since lilies grow from a bulb that is buried and then blooms into life, it is a beautiful representation of the death and resurrection of Jesus.  The trumpet shaped blooms of the lilies have been likened to the trumpets of angels that herald events in the Bible.  Lilies announce Spring, but the greatest event is the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Though most of the lilies native to America do not bloom until early summer, the Bermuda lily, or white trumpet lily, which blooms naturally in the spring, was imported to the U.S. in the late 1800’s.

It’s popularity grew and it soon became the symbolic flower of Easter across the land.*
