Obedience

No human should have to carry the weight of being their own god, but so many of us do.

We say we trust God and then we work our fingers to the bone and our emotions into a tangled fray trying to strategize, manipulate, control, figure it all out.

And in my own life, God has had to remind me, “Wait a minute, Lysa. I’m really good at being God. So your job is just be obedient to Me. Just today. Don’t look so far down the road and try to figure it all out. You’ll stress yourself out beyond what you can bear. Your job is to be obedient to Me today. Go where I tell you to go. Love who I tell you to love. Don’t make it so complicated. Simply recognize your job – obedience. And know that My job is everything else.”
